Food - The Only Variable You Have Complete Control Over
This is going to be harsh to some, but truthfully, this is the cold hard truth. Food is actually the only variable you have complete control over when it comes to your training, performance, physique and recovery. What you put in your mouth is solely determined by you. No one is holding a gun to your head to make you eat what you eat. I understand that you'll have your say about this and whatever excuse you come up with but at the end of the day, if you don't receive the outcomes that you are after because you can't control what you put in your mouth, there is no one else to blame. If you don't want to take your goals or aspirations that serious and pile whatever in your mouth at times, consistently diverting from your plan, your product will speak for itself.
You may think that its not reasonable, "you need to live", but plenty of other people have no issue adhering to their nutrition plan, so truly it is only unreasonable for you, and thats a reality that you are going to have to accept. While there are variables that we can control in regards to training and recovery, a lot of them come with a lot of external factors that we simply cannot control.
Sleep is a big variable we can control, but you can't control a bad nights sleep or disturbances that may occur throughout the night. So you don't have complete control over this.
Effort is another variable, but this can be influenced by external factors such as energy, injury, stress, mental state and your overall mood. Effort cannot be measured which also makes it hard to truly track, because our efforts will always be varied in some fashion. Again, something we don't have complete control over.
Attitude is 100% in our control, but this is also going to have external factors that play into this. You can fight to stay positive all you want, but life will make sure to take its blows so you better be armed with a mind.
What you put in your mouth though, is 100% in your control. It is always a tangible decision, and this can be measured/tracked easily. Food is hard for people to control, yes, and there are a lot of external influences that can affect this. However, it is still a tangible decision at the end of the day. As I already stated, no one is forcing you to eat anything. Fortunately and unfortunately, we live in a place where food is in abundance everywhere you turn, so your excuses for "not having options" or being limited in your choices can't be applied here. Its extremely simple; did you or did you not eat what you were supposed to eat?
You can be "all in" and have a bad nights sleep. You can be "all in" if you don't have that final gear to tap into during training that day. You can be "all in" if you absolutely do not want to train that day and you are pissed off or upset. You're not all in if you're not taking control of the only measurable variable that you have 100% control over at all times.
